MKS Championship Regulations

  1. Name of the competition, organizers, and officials

    1.1. Full name of the competition: Moscow Karting School Cup 2018-2019

    1.2. Organizers of competitions: Perovo Karting Center, MKS Racing Karting School

    1.3 Partners of the competition: Perovo Training and Sports Center, MKS Racing Team

    1.4. Officials Competition Coordinator — Maksim Ryzhkov, Race Technical Director — Boris Medvedev, Chief Referee — Vitaly Ryzhkov

  2. Karts

    2.1. The race takes place on karts specially designed for each age group (5-8 years; 8-12 years; 12-17 years).

  3. Terms of participation and registration

    3.1. Children aged 5 to 17, inclusive, are allowed to take part in the competition. According to their age, participants are divided into three age groups: 5-8 years, 8-12 years, 12-17 years.

    3.2. Children under 5 and over 17 shall not be allowed to participate in the competitions.

    3.3. The organizers have the right to refuse participation to any person without explanation.

    3.4. The entry fee for each participant is RUB 3,000.-.

  4. Schedule of stages

    4.1. Competitions are held on Sunday.

    4.2. Participants of groups 8-12 and 12-17 years to meet at 10:30 a.m.

    4.3. Participants of group 5-8 years to meet at 01:30 p.m.

    The organizers reserve their right to change the date and time of the race.

  6. Name of the competition, organizers, and officials

    6.1. Competitions are held in accordance with the track system, under which each participant goes on the starting line from 3 to 6 times. A driver starts each round from a different position and meets every participant at the start.

    6.2. The racing form is made for a minimum of 3 drivers to a maximum of 16 drivers. If more than 16 drivers apply for the competition, pre-qualification shall be held.

    6.3. Pre-qualification is held a week before the competition. The drivers who have set the best 16 lap times are allowed to participate in competitions.

    6.4. The karts are ranked on the grid with the fastest kart occupying the last starting place, and with the slowest one occupying the first starting place. Regardless of the position at the finish line, each driver is obliged to return his or her kart to the starting point after the race.

    6.5. Start procedure implies the simultaneous standing start of all race participants on a wave of a green flag.

    6.6. Ready position for each driver is determined by qualification or draw (depending on the number of participants).

  7. Fines and penalties

    7.1. Participants are divided into the following groups according to their age: 5-8 years 8-12 years 12-17 years

    7.2. If a driver’s height does not allow racing in his or her age group, this driver takes part in a group according to his or her height.

  8. Scoring

    8.1. Each age group has its own tournament scoring.

    8.2. The system of scoring in the race depends on the number of participants at the start. At the start of 3 participants in the race, first place gets 3 points, second place gets 2 points, the third place gets 1 point. At the start of 4 participants, the first place gets 4 points, the second place gets 3 points, the third place gets 2 points, the last one gets 1 point, and so on. The scoring system is directly proportional to the number of race participants.

    8.3. The final place at a separate competition stage is determined by the highest amount of intermediate points the drivers have scored in their races.

    8.4. Final points at the end of the stage are awarded as follows:

    1 place - 25
    2 place - 18
    3 place - 15
    4 place - 12
    5 place - 10

    6 place - 8
    7 place - 6
    8 place - 4
    9 place - 2
    10 place - 1

    8.5. The final place in the Championship is determined by the amount of points scored by a driver during all stages, with the stage with the least number of points excluded.

    8.6. Points for the Grand Final are awarded at double rate.

  9. Determining the championship winners

    9.1. The championship winner is a driver who has scored the highest amount of points at the end of the scoring stages with adding the points awarded in the Grand Final.

    9.2. In case the number of points is equal, the championship winner is a driver who has taken a higher place in the Grand Final.

    9.3. The Grand Final involves 10 drivers who have scored the maximum number of points upon the results of scoring stages. Should the drivers score the equal number of points, the driver who has more 1st places in scoring stages has an advantage; in case the number of 1st places is equal, the number of 2nd places in scoring stages shall be taken into account, etc.

  10. Stopping the race

    10.1. In case of circumstances that prevent the competition, the Chief Referee or the organizer has the right to stop the race. A red flag signals to stop the race.

    10.2. When drivers see a signal to stop the race, they have to slow down and drive to the pit lane without overtaking each other.

    10.4. The race restart takes place from the ready positions: drivers start in the order they had at the time of the race stop.

    10.5. If a race cannot be continued, with the drivers having passed more than 75% of the race distance, a race is considered valid and final positions of drivers get determined by the order of crossing by the drivers of the cutoff line on the lap preceding the time of a race stop.

  11. Driver’s actions in case of a kart’s breakdown

    11.1. If a driver cannot continue driving due to a broken kart, the driver must stop in a safe place, raise his or her hand up, and wait for the help from the track personnel.

    11.2. The driver of a broken kart cannot leave the kart on the track without track personnel’s permission and must wait for track personnel to help the driver leave the kart.

    11.3. In case of damage to the kart, race restart is impossible.

  12. The driver’s actions in case of a kart’s breakdown

    12.1. Drivers must comply with all instructions of a flag signaling.

    12.2. Drivers are not allowed to engage in contact struggle on the track. Deliberate attacks and pushes are prohibited. The criteria for assessing the drivers’ compliance with this rule, as well as the imposition of penalties for noncompliance, are stipulated by the Chief Referee at the briefing before the race start.

    12.3. Drivers shall not be allowed to move on the track in the direction opposite to the racecourse, except when it is required to turn around.

    12.4. Drivers are not allowed to leave the kart on the track without permission of the track personnel.

    12.5. If the driver is unable to continue driving independently due to sudden sickness, obstacles on the track, or a kart’s breakdown, the driver must raise his or her hand up, and wait for the help from track personnel.

    12.6. Kart’s stop on the track is prohibited, except for cases of an emergency stop. The driver is allowed to carry out an emergency stop of the kart in the following cases: the kart has broken and cannot continue moving on its own; a sudden driver’s sickness.

  13. Flag signaling

    A green flag means the start of the race. A red flag means the finish of the race. A yellow flag means danger on the track. Drivers are required to slow down in the yellow flag area. Overtaking is prohibited. Yellow flag effect terminates after a driver has passed a dangerous section of the track. A blue flag means that the driver who was approached on the lap is obliged to allow the kart overtaking this driver to pass as soon as possible. A black-and-white flag means warning for rough driving. A black flag means disqualification. A checkered flag means the finish of the race.

  15. Refereeing, fines, penalties

    14.1. Refereeing is carried out by the Chief Referee with the possible involvement of assistants. The final decision to stop the race, the imposition of penalties, and controversial moments shall be made by the Chief Referee. The Chief Referee is obliged to make a decision on the grounds of provisions of these regulations and the provisions stipulated in the course of briefing before the race. The decision of the Chief Referee made on the grounds of provisions of these regulations and the provisions stipulated in the course of briefing shall be final and shall not be subject to further discussion. The judge is not allowed to accept for consideration the video material shot by the driver or other race participants.

    14.2 A warning shall be issued to a driver for the following actions: taking incorrect ready position; violation of the blue flag requirements for more than one lap; resistance to overtaking; simultaneous use of brake and accelerator pedals; failure to comply with the requirements of the track personnel; failure to return the kart at the starting point after the race finish. Warnings are accumulated. Two warnings impose 1 penalty point, 4 warnings impose 2 penalty points, and so on.

    14.3. A penalty with 1 penalty point is imposed for the following violations: rough driving; rough resistance to overtaking; pushing out a rival; a false start; overtaking with collision/pushing past the turn

    14.4. A penalty with 2 penalty points is imposed for the following violations: a rival’s backward turn; a rival who has been turned back gets 1 bonus point.

    14.5. Penalty points are not added to the final points for positions, they are added to the intermediate points obtained for races.

These regulations shall mean an official invitation to participate in the competition. A driver, who has come to participate in the competition and paid an entry fee, automatically agrees with all the regulations provisions and is obliged to fulfill them.
